About the Live Game
This summer, actors and comedians from The Sarah Silverman Program and The Mindy Project congregated at Meltdown Comics in L.A. to play a session of Dungeons & Dragons led by Matthew Mercer (Critical Role, Overwatch). The seven episodes produced and presented by Nerdist earned more than 1.1 million views on YouTube, but the story’s conclusion was left as a cliffhanger.
On December 5th, starting at 5pm PT, the cast of Force Grey: Giant Hunters gathered again to Mercer’s war-horn call and played D&D in front of a live audience of fans at the historic Egyptian Theater in Los Angeles. The rest of the world could watch the game streamed via our following channels:
Meet Force Grey
Brian Posehn (The Sarah Silverman Program), Utkarsh Ambudkar (The Mindy Project, Pitch Perfect) and Shelby Fero (Emmy Award-winning writer on Robot Chicken), will return to reprise their roles from Force Grey: Giant Hunters, but there will be some new faces joining the party. Emily V. Gordon, co-writer of the upcoming film The Big Sick and producer of three seasons of The Meltdown with Jonah and Kumail on Comedy Central, will take up arms against the giants. We’re also keeping a chair or two open for any surprise friends of the cast to drop in, put on a wizard’s hat, and cast magic missile!
Shelby Fero

Comedian and writer Shelby Fero (Key & Peele) will be playing a dwarf fighter with a floating shield and a crippling fear of heights.

Brawlwin Chainminer (Dwarf Fighter) is a proud descendant of the Delzoun dwarves and hails from a long line of giant-slayers based in Waterdeep. The stability she craves is jeopardized whenever her old friend Hitch shows up, and Katya has helped him out of many sticky situations. Although her roots in the city run deep, Katya longs for adventure from time to time, and maybe slay a giant or two while she’s at it.
Utkarsh Ambudkar

Actor, singer, rapper-extraordinaire, Utkarsh Ambudkar (The Mindy Project, Pitch Perfect), will be drawing on his many talents as he plays a wise-cracking scoundrel human rogue.

Hitch (Human Rogue) started off life on the wrong foot and the wrong side of the wagon tracks. He tries to keep two steps ahead of his shady past, avoiding run-ins with the Zhentarim and other nefarious acquaintances. With his quick wit and roguish charm, Hitch plans to somehow land on his feet, on a pile of gold, with a treasure map in each hand, but until then he needs all the friends he can get.
Brian Posehn

Brian Posehn (The Sarah Silverman Program) is a long-time D&D player who hosts his own D&D games on the Nerd Poker podcast and he joins the group playing against type.

Calliope (Half-Elf Bard) was raised on a pirate ship, and yes, that’s an excuse for her volatile behavior and colorful language. She’ll sing you a song, but you better listen or she’ll smash you with her lute. Calliope loves disguises and unraveling mysteries. Calliope can’t resist the lure of adventure or making new enemies, but it’s her friends who serve as the family she never had.
